Works included demolition and replacement of the outdoor 50m pool, water polo and learn to swim pools, together with refurbishment of indoor 25m and leisure pools and construction of new gymnasium, aerobic studios, café, administration and change areas.
New 51.5m geothermal-heated outdoor competition pool with a 1.5m wide movable bulkhead. Widely-regarded as one of the best school aquatic centres in Australia, a novel feature of the design is the spectator seating protected with coloured Danpalon-clad wind breaks. All pool plant and store rooms are located below the pool concourse.
A spectacular mast and cable supported structure featuring extensive glazed walls. The building incorporates a six court stadium plus a show court with spectator seating for 2,000. Additional facilities include function rooms, a café and administration offices for Basketball WA and the Perth Wildcats. Joint venture contract.
International standard track and field stadium designed to replace the aging Perry Lakes Athletics Stadium which was used for the 1962 Commonwealth Games. The track and field facilities were constructed to strict IAAF standards, and included a 3000 seat grandstand and accommodation for a further 10,000 spectators on grassed banks.
