The Bunge Silo 4 Project, located at the Bunbury Port, is Perkins second project with grain exporter Bunge Pty Ltd. 10 years since the last instalment of 6 grain silos, Perkins were again entrusted to deliver the civil, steel and concrete packages for the seventh silo. This time around, the silos methodology included an underground tunnel with ramp and a 1m thick silo base capable of supporting a silo which could hold twice the capacity of one existing silo.

The project was divided into 3 separable portions with Perkins to deliver portions 1 and 3. It took Perkins 6 months to complete separable portion 1 which included 138 of 14m deep piles, 2500m3 of spoil removal, 160,000 kgs of reinforcement and 900m3 of concrete. Following completion of SP1, the project was handover to Allied Grain Systems to complete the Silo structure and mechanical works. Once the silo was erected and commissioned, Perkins remobilised to site to deliver SP3 to install the necessary safety and operational equipment such as: handrails, balustrades, ladders, bollards, barriers, asphalt and line-marking.
