Our History
Perkins Builders is proudly a family owned business with a rich history, starting off in Western Australia’s beautiful South West before expanding into the Perth Metropolitan area. Throughout the years Perkins have reached many milestones and now operate as one of the State’s largest regionally based construction companies, with an annual turnover in excess of $190m.
YEAR
THE COMPANY WAS FOUNDED
The sons of a Bunbury builder/bricklayer, Jim and Neville Perkins started Perkins Bros Builders in 1965. The company began as a Bunbury-based contractor pursuing a diverse range of commercial, industrial and civil engineering projects throughout the southwest of Western Australia.
YEAR
A DECADE OF PROGRESS
During the 1970’s, Perkins Bros Builders worked to establish themselves as a solid, reputable builder completing a number of iconic buildings for the local Bunbury community including the first stages of the Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School, Commonwealth Bank and the Bunbury Library (since demolished). We moved to our Hales Street premises in 1971, saw the first of our young staff complete their apprenticeships and in 1977 we were incorporated.

DAN PERKINS JOINS THE COMPANY
In 1983, Dan joined the family business as an apprentice carpenter beginning his career in the building and construction industry.

NEW LEADERSHIP
Having progressed through the roles of apprentice, foreman, site manager and contracts manager, Dan Perkins was appointed Managing Director in 1995.

A NEW NAME
In 2001, Perkins Bros Builders became Perkins Builders.

EXPANSION
2002 was another milestone year for Perkins Builders with the opening of our second office; in the Perth suburb of Balcatta. The opening of this office coincided with the award of our first two projects in the Perth region.

MILESTONE 40 YEARS
In 2005 we celebrated 40 years of Quality and Pride in business, with the release of a new logo marking the milestone.

REBUILDING A BUNBURY ICON
Following on from a devastating tornado in May 2005, Bunbury’s beloved St Patrick’s Cathedral was so severely damaged it was demolished. Perkins Builders were charged with completing the new Bunbury Cathedral Precinct and completed construction in 2009.

A FUNCTION CENTRE FOR THE QUEEN
October 2011 saw Perkins complete works on Frasers Redevelopment in Kings Park in time to host the historic Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

50 YEARS
2015 saw Perkins Builders reach another milestone, this time celebrating 50 years in business.
