Perkins 2022 Calendar

Safety is at the core of every Perkins Group project, not only for our staff and our subcontractors but for their loved ones and the communities in which they live and work.

This year, for our company calendars we’ve done something a little different to reflect our safety culture; we asked the children, nieces, nephews of the Perkins’ Group employees to draw what Safety, Health and Environment meant to them and we turned their drawings into our calendar.

From COVID-19 safety, to wearing the correct PPE and following safety practices, utilising crosswalks, correct disposal of waste and even Dogman rescuing Petey the Cat’s victim, the drawings depict just how important HSE is, not only on site, but in our everyday life.

Through the eyes of children, the world looks a bit different, but the message is still the same. Nothing you do today is more important than you going home tonight.

Turning of the Sod at 61 Dunn Bay Road

DUNSBOROUGH CELEBRATES AS WORK GETS UNDERWAY AT ICONIC SITE

Community groups gathered with the City of Busselton and other key stakeholders to celebrate the break-ground of 61 Dunn Bay Road on Friday 10th December.

City of Busselton Mayor, Grant Henley joined site owners Peter & George Atzemis and hospitality operator, Miles Hull, alongside representatives from the Dunsborough Progress Association to applaud the commencement of construction for the project located on the corner of Dunn Bay & Cape Naturaliste Road in Dunsborough’s town centre.

Unanimously approved by the City of Busselton Council in May this year, the development has been well-received by the local community with Perkins Builders appointed last month for the $18million project.

Designed by highly-acclaimed WA architects FINESPUN, the new destination will comprise microbrewery, coffee roastery, kitchen and relaxed dining and will blend indoor and outdoor spaces including a substantial green-scaped alfresco – all catering for the local Dunsborough community and tourism market.

The project will also assist with a current shortfall of accommodation in Dunsborough town centre, delivering 18 private and low-lying cabins that will sit amongst the already established vegetation on site, providing unique and experience-led stays.

“We are thrilled to see a development taking the right approach in fitting in with the town’s village character,” said DPA President Jacquie Happ.

City of Busselton Mayor, Grant Henley was also thrilled to see works get underway. “We look forward to seeing this exciting addition to Dunsborough’s town centre come to fruition.”

Site owners Peter & George Atzemis said they were determined to create an authentic South-West experience in the centre of town and having local & reputable builders Perkins begin work in achieving this vision was a significant milestone.

“Our family has had a long association with Dunsborough and we were intent on creating a destination that embraces the local culture and allows visitors and locals alike to experience an ‘escape’ while still in walking distance of the town centre and amenity,” said Peter. “We appreciate how special the site is, acting as an entrance statement to the town centre, and as such understood the importance of a character conducive to the native, South-West feel.

“Many aspects of 61 Dunn Bay Road exist individually throughout the region – microbrewery, coffee roastery and boutique accommodation – but are not accessible without transportation between venues. We have looked to overcome this by instead offering all of these attractive components in a central, town centre location.

The food, beverage and accommodation will be operated by hospitality heavyweight, Miles Hull, of Little Creatures, Alex Hotel and Quarter Acre fame. Hull said the new precinct would feed a desire for an active day and evening precinct within the town centre.

“Our intent is to create a place that enhances the town’s options for morning, noon and night food, beverage and accommodation options. Ultimately, we want to increase vibrancy and visitation within the town centre by delivering a precinct with a distinct ‘down-south’ vibe – somewhere you can visit straight from the beach, walk or cycle to – to enjoy a quality hospitality experience be it
coffee, lunch, dinner or a late evening drink,” he said.

Completion is scheduled for Summer 2022.

Place Development also confirmed negotiations were underway with a handful of iconic brands for the remaining retail tenancy, with an announcement expected early 2022.
