Bunbury Hospital Redevelopment Industry Briefing

Multiplex and Perkins Builders have formed an unincorporated Joint Venture to harness their respective strengths of delivering large scale complex construction projects in a regional environment.

The State Government’s $451.1 million redevelopment of Bunbury Regional Hospital will transform the facility into one of the most modern hospitals in regional Australia.

When complete, Bunbury Regional Hospital will be the biggest in country WA, reflecting its role as an important community healthcare hub for the South West region.

Local subcontractors and suppliers are invited to join the Multiplex Perkins Builders Joint Venture team for an informal industry information briefing on the Bunbury Hospital Redevelopment to understand the potential opportunities on the project.

MBA Excellence in Construction Awards

Perkins Builders are proud to announce our success at the Master Builders Associated of Western Australia Commonwealth Bank Excelelnce in Construction Awards for 2024, held at Crown Perth on 20th July.

Our Catholic Homes Belmont – Sister Mary Glowery project took out the prize for the best Aged Care Building in the $20 million to $50 Million dollar category. It is great to see that everyone’s exceptional efforts, dedication and hard work during the planning, design and delivery of the project has been recognized. This is a true demonstration of the attention to detail, collaboration with stakeholders and perseverance through some very challenging times during construction have led to a great outcome. Thank you to our client Catholic Homes – Western Australia, T&Z Architects and everyone involved in the project.

The Armadale Courthouse and Police Complex project was also recoginsed as Best Government Building $50 million to $100 million. This project brings together the Police and Courthouse functions into the one facility, providing significant improvements and efficiencies for both the WA Police Force and the Department of Justice. Successfully navigating the construction of this project during the pandemic, and its flow on effects, is testament to the hard work and dedication to everyone involved.

20 Years of Service

Congratulations to Rob Stanford on reaching his 20 Years of Service on 31st May. Rob has been an integral part of the Perkins Builders estimating team over this time.

Rob has an approachable and friendly nature and is always up for a bit of footy banter (especially about his favourite team, the Fremantle Dockers). His hard work and dedication to maintaining relationships with key subcontractors and assistance in developing estimating systems and practices is invaluable to the business.

Bunbury Regional Hospital Redevelopment

Perkins Builders and Multiplex have formed a 50/50 Joint Venture to harness their respective strengths of delivering large scale complex construction projects in a regional environment.

The State Government announced the Joint Venture as the successful contractor to design and deliver the Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment which will transform the site into one of the most modern facilities in regional Australia.

The redevelopment represents the largest upgrade of a regional hospital in Western Australia’s history. The design phase will start immediately, with early works commencing in mid-2025.

The intent is to provide relevant opportunities to local subcontractors and suppliers during the construction phase of the works.

Years of Service Milestones!

Last Friday, we held a special BBQ at the workshop to celebrate four of our staff members reaching their Years of Service Milestone with Perkins Builders; a total of 55 Years of Service!

First congratulations went to Rod Birkin from our Asset & Logistics team for reaching his 5 Years of Service.

Darren Williams and Graham Fiegert, both South West Site Managers have reached an impressive 15 Years of Service.

And the last milestone celebrated was an incredible 20 Years of Service for Kane Westbrook, Site Manager.

Working on sites over the South West and Peel Region, we are thankful for the loyalty, dedication and skill each bring to the team. Our people are our greatest asset, and we take pride in watching them grow and develop their career with Perkins and enjoy recognising and celebrating these milestones as a team.

Perkins Awarded Department of Finance Contractor of the Year

We are delighted to announce Perkins Builders was awarded Contractor of the Year at the Annual Department of Finance Supplier Performance Awards 2023.

Held on Monday, these awards recognise suppliers who consistently deliver excellent outcomes for the WA community on projects completed in collaboration with the WA Government.

“This year’s Best Contractor was awarded to Perkins Builders, a standout winner due to their proactive approach to problem solving and impressive work on the Australind Senior High School forward works, the Bunbury Senior High School cafeteria and refurbishment and the Collie Health Service Stage 2 project.”

Congratulations and thank you to our valued subcontractors and suppliers and of course, the Perkins Team for their efforts on these projects. Without them, this outstanding result would not have been possible.

Our latest project at Perth Airport has commenced

On Wednesday 20th September the Sod was turned at Perth Airport, formally commencing the works at our latest project with Perth Airport. Perkins Builders will be constructing a new Code C hangar with workshop, warehouse and office building space with additional apron space. The design will provide the flexibility for VARA (VARA – Virgin Australia Group’s regional and charter flying operation) to grow its operations at Perth Airport.

Catholic Homes Belmont Aged Care is Open

Our recently completed project for Catholic Homes in Belmont has been handed over, and the building officially opened with a blessing ceremony on Thursday 14th September.

Now named the  Sister Mary Glowrey Residential Care Facility to honour the life of a pioneering Australian female doctor who followed her vocation into religious life to care for the poor and marginalised, the residential care facility brings 96 new aged care beds into the region.

The facility offers ageing-in-place, dementia care and palliative care, in a comfortable and home-like environment and features open-air courtyards with covered balconies, a tree-lined sensory garden space, a wellness centre, staff and meeting/training rooms, and a coffee bar.

We would like to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition and hope the residents enjoy their new home.

Perkins Builders and Bunbury Farmers Market hosted a Turning of the Sod to celebrate works commencing on the highly anticipated Vasse Village by Bunbury Farmers Market.

Nestled at the heart of the captivating Margaret River wine region, this new market is poised to become a vibrant epicentre of farm-fresh delights and culinary inspiration.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for a grand opening in December 2024.
