Bunbury Senior High School has serviced the community of Bunbury for over a century, providing High School Education to thousands of pupils. Generations of family members have passed through the school over this period of time. The development the new canteen, provides a well-equipped facility to provide daily food service to students whilst taking time out between classes. The position of the new facility provides the perfect vista over the ocean during their breaks.

The design features an elevated building, supported on raking columns founded on an existing steep embankment between the main administration block and lower gymnasium with the adjoining sports oval. External walls are constructed of insulated metal clad panels, with the main structure comprising of a concrete suspended slab with large span structural steelwork creating the extensive volume required for the open seating area. Combined with windows to the external perimeter not only captures ocean views, provides amply natural light highlighting the new clean open environment for both students and staff.

Internally the Cafeteria incorporates a full commercial kitchen inclusive of new coolroom and freezer, extensive servery bench with multiple point of sale registers, providing ample service during peak periods with easily accessible display fridges.

The existing central quadrangle as it was known, accommodating the original canteen, was demolished as part of the staged works with new landscaping including paved areas and benches being constructed to complete the upgrade of the area.
