Built on the iconic hillside overlooking the city of Bunbury and the Back Beach is Bunbury Senior High School. The Year 7 Building involved the construction of a new classroom block required for the relocation of year 7s into the Bunbury Senior High School environment, following the move to bring year 7 students onto High School Campus’ in 2015.

The new facility is built on a sloping portion of the overall school premises next to the existing amphi-theatre. The building is split over three levels; the Upper floor accommodates the ablution facilities, stores, Teachers Prep and Activity area. Access is via a steel framed walkway linking in with the front entrance of the school. The Lower floor has additional storage space, study areas and the four learning areas. The learning areas are grouped two together and can be used separately by closing the operable wall or as an enlarged area by opening up the operable wall. And lastly the basement area that consists of 12 parking bays with 1 disabled parking bay. The carpark is linked with a concrete path to the amphi-theatre and the lift that provides access to all three levels of the building.

The school remained fully operational during the construction process, so careful planning was undertaken to ensure the safety of the students and faculty and to ensure there was no disruption to the school.

This project was Finalist for Best Commercial Project Overall and Winner of Best Commercial Building $3m-$4.5m at the 2015 Master Builders Association South West Building Excellence Awards.
