Construction methods include basment raft slab, loadbearing concrete columns and walls, three levels of suspended slabs and structural steel framing. Precast concrete was utilised for the high walls of the ROC and precast planks for the suspended plant deck. Curtain walling and contrasting architectural materials clad the exterior of the building, which is surrounded at ground level by bitumen carparks, landscaping and shade sail structures.

Challenges of the project included working in the airport precinct, dealing with the 10 year peak in the water table, the integration of services and technology, client change management, client early access to control centre, and a fast paced construction programme.

Overall, the resultant building conveys a strong and striking corporate identity for the client, and a finish of the highest quality. The project was delivered 3 months ahead of the contractual completion date.

Roy Hill Remote Operations Centre & Offices won the title of Best Office Building at the 2014 Western Australia MBA Excellence in Construction Awards and was a finalist in the Best Overall Project.

The project was viewed in such a high calibre by the MBA that it was nominated to represent Master Builders Western Australia as a national finalist at the Master Builders Australia National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards. The National Awards are the pinnacle of the Excellence in Building and Construction awards. They bring together the best in each State and Territory and culminate in the best of the best at the national level.
