This project consisted of expansion of the existing St John of God facilities at the South West Health Campus; the Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Coronary Care Unit.
The Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) consists of two storey extension with mezzanine plant room. This facility complements the existing MRI, CT scanning and Ultrasound facilities at the hospital. Ground floor areas incorporate Gamma Camera,
PET CT and further X-Ray & Ultrasound facilities; inclusive of relevant support facilities. A retail Pharmacy adjacent the main entrance to St Johns completes the ground floor. The upper level consists of general consulting and clinical areas predominately servicing Chemotherapy patients. Administrative areas are contained in the upper level. This project incorporates complicated service requirements including upgrades to power, medical gases and chilled/hot water services for mechanical equipment. Integration of these services with the existing hospital presents ongoing challenges and requires careful management.
The Coronary Care Unit (CCU) consists of a single storey addition with mezzanine plant room. This 8 bed facility incorporates all requirements for support for acute coronary care. An angiography procedure area with relevant holding, recovery, and support services features in the extension. Staff areas, sterile areas, storage and amenities make up the balance of area.
This project was Winner of the 2014 Master Builders Association South West Building Excellence Awards Commercial Alterations & Additions over $10m.
