This joint venture contract saw the construction of an International standard track and field stadium designed to replace the aging Perry Lakes Athletics Stadium which was used for the 1962 Commonwealth Games. The track and field facilities were constructed to strict IAAF standards, and included a 3000 seat grandstand and accommodation for a further 10,000 spectators on grassed banks.
