MADDA Partnership
Perkins Builders are proud to join Mesothelioma and Dust Diseases Australia (MADDA) as an Industry Partner, to raise awareness of asbestos and dust diseases, and to advocate for safer workplaces across Western Australia.
Whilst Asbestos was banned in Australia in 2003, it is still present in buildings across WA, and tradies can come across it during routine renovation, maintenance and demolition work and the impacts can be deadly.
The statistics are scary – the average age of exposure is only 23, with over 700 cases of mesothelioma diagnosed annual and over 4000 Australian’s dying every year from past asbestos exposure.
It’s the actions we take now that will directly impact our future health and wellness, so follow the procedures, wear the PPE and encourage those around you on sites to do the same.
