New Project: Bunbury Community Courts

Perkins Builders are excited to be working with the Bunbury Basketball Association and the City of Bunbury on construction of the new Bunbury Community Courts.

The facility will feature six new full-sized courts for basketball and netball, including a show court with retractable seating, along with changerooms, a multipurpose room and modern facilities for players, officials, and the wider community. More than just a sporting facility, this will be a flexible community hub capable of hosting major regional events and a wide range of recreational activities throughout the year.

The project holds a special significance to our team, with two of our staff currently playing with the Slammers NBL1 Team. It’s a unique opportunity for them to be part of the team constructing the courts they will soon be playing on!

We look forward to sharing more updates as works progress.

Foodbank Dalyellup Progress

Our Foodbank WA Dalyellup project continues to progress well, with the tilt panels successfully erected and the structural steel installation completed. With roof edge protection now installed, roofing works have commenced, bringing the project another step closer to fully enclosed.

Once complete, the new, purpose-built Foodbank Dalyellup facility will strengthen support for those in need, bringing together food relief with wraparound services including mental health support through Youth Focus and financial counselling via the Financial Wellbeing Collective. The hub will provide a single, welcoming location where people can access immediate help and longer-term support close to home.

Strong Minds, Strong Mates

Perkins Builders were proud to support the Bunbury Sharks Football Club in their inaugural Strong Minds, Strong Mates Mental Health Round, hosting a special BBQ at our Head Office in Bunbury last week with special guests from the Bunbury Sharks and A Stitch in Time.  Kane Westbrook, President of the Bunbury Sharks presented Dan with the special jumper for the round and gave an introduction into the club and the importance of the Strong Minds, Strong Mates campaign.

Guest speaker, former Perth Wildcat and NBL1 Women’s Coach Brad Robbins gave an inspiring presentation sharing parts of his journey on the court and behind the scenes, highlighting the importance of recognising what’s going on internally before it turns into overwhelm. It was an honest and engaging with some important takeaways we hope everyone will utilise in their lives.

A Stitch in Time is going great work in the mental health space, so we’d like to encourage everyone to get involved with them if the chance arises.

SWAMS Project Update

Perkins Builders are pleased to be working with South West Aboriginal Medical Service and MCG Architects in the construction of the new SWAMS Health Hub in Bunbury.

The project represents a significant step in consolidating health services for the local indigenous community and is a project that all parties have been working towards over a long period of time.

After numerous months of bulk earthworks and in ground infrastructure, we are transitioning out of the ground with concrete core structures. Over the coming month concrete floor and suspended slabs will commence.

This development will set a new benchmark for AMS’s nationally and provide the local regional communities with significant facilities.

Stay tuned over the next 12 months as building takes shape.

Mesothelioma and Dust Diseases Australia (MADDA) Awareness

The team at Perkins Builders are proud to be supporting Mesothelioma and Dust Diseases Australia (MADDA)  in their appeal and to raise awareness of the risks of asbestos and hazardous dust on WA worksites.

It’s a risk workers in the building and construction industry face every day and when you think about it, the statistics are scary. 4000 deaths a year, over 700 people diagnosed with mesothelioma – it’s too many.

The health of workers in the Building and Construction industry is paramount, so we’d like to encourage everyone to work safely and wear the PPE appropriate to the task. It’s these small steps that protect our health and wellbeing for now and the future.
